Want healthy looking skin? Don’t we all. But did you know that what you put inside your body could actually be more important than what you put on your skin? Regardless of how much you spend on beauty creams and ointments if you don’t feed your skin the nutrients it needs from your diet, your skin isn’t going to be looking its best.

So we have put together 5 foods that are easy to include in your diet to keep your skin super healthy and looking great. From the inside out.

1. Berries

Berries are generally great for your health but they are also awesome for your skin. They are rich in vitamin C and super high in antioxidants. Especially blueberries. Studies have shown that people who eat foods high in vitamin C from fruits and vegetables, have fewer wrinkles that those who don’t include fruits and vegetables with vitamin C in their diet. Vitamin C is important for firmer skin as it also helps with collagen production. Antioxidants can also help your body fight off blemishes, leading to clearer skin

2. Green Tea

Green tea is also packed with antioxidants, which makes it awesome for making your skin look healthier and younger. It’s also great for reducing acne as it can help to reduce levels of an acne-producing hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). According to studies, drinking green tea might actually also help prevent UVB-related skin damage and age related skin damage. You can also use chilled damp green tea bags to soothe a sunburn.

3. Orange Foods

Orange foods especially vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots and squash are high in beta-carotene which not only give them their orange like colour but also help to protect the skin from free-radical damage. They protect the skin from the suns damaging radiation and can reduce scaling and roughness of the skin.

4. Eggs

Yep eggs are actually really great for your skin. They are a rich source of vitamin A, which helps your skin repair itself. They are also a great source of biotin which is a vitamin B, essential for healthy skin and nails. The protein in eggs also plays an important part in improving the health of your skin by providing a source of amino acids. Your body uses these amino acids to generate proteins such as elastin and collagen which then strengthen your skin tissue as well as melanin which contribute to your skins colour.

5. Cabbage

Cabbage is actually super high in vitamin C. It contains more vitamin C than oranges, which help cabbage heal damaged tissues and minimise deep lines on your skin. Cabbage also contains vitamin A, which helps to smooth lines in your skin.

Cabbage is also high in potassium which helps purify your body and skin and high in vitamin E, which helps your skin look healthy and glowing. Cabbage also can be used on your skin to help relieve symptoms of eczema, psoriasis, acne, rashes, insect bites and more. Simply blend some cabbage and wrap the cabbage mixture in a cloth. Apply to the skin for about 15 minutes. Regular application of this plus adding cabbage to your diet can help you health these ailments faster.

One of the other big things you can do to improve the look and feel of your skin is drink more water. Hydration is so important to healthy skin so drink up and stay hydrated.
