The Arc’teryx Norvan LD is a stylish, hardworking trail shoe that is perfect for the runner who puts in long miles that involve technical terrain. It has a balanced combination of support and is lightweight to allow for a comfortable run.
The shoe is specifically designed for all-day comfort on extended trail runs. With lightweight construction, functional support, and a Vibram® Megagrip outsole for versatile grip on technical trails, the Norvan LD’s material choices and geometry ensure long-distance performance and comfort while delivering the protection and durability required to move with speed and confidence across unpredictable terrain.
It doesn’t matter to me that my trail shoes will be covered in river water and trail dirt in the first 5 KM of a run, I want them to feel good for long treks in the mountains or the trails in Edmonton. The Norvan LD's have a sleek, minimalistic design which is perfect for long distance trail running.
I had the Nocturne/Safety colour and I tested them out in the trails around Jasper in March when they were a bit wet, a bit snowpacked and somewhat icy. I tested them on a few different terrains ranging from the footbridges in Maligne Canyon to leaf littered hill climbs and technical downhills. On the harder surfaces, they readily absorbed the impact and I found that the mega grip Vibram soles were perfect for grabbing at the loose dirt on my climbs. They were lightweight and comfortable.
In one run, they were covered in mud so the lighter colour way of the shoe may get soiled quickly, however, if that is a non-issue, they are a perfect trail shoe for runners who are looking to do long runs involving technical terrain.
