Edmonton is set to host Team Canada and the best track and field athletes from across the globe in the Athletics Canada Warm-Up to Worlds Invitational this July 3 at Foote Field; a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver level event.
The fastest athletes in the world will compete in track and field events including 100 m, 800 m, hurdles, relays, and more. Anticipated Team Canada athletes like Edmonton’s Marco Arop will meet and compete against elite athletes from countries around the world. Those that run fastest, jump highest, and throw farthest IN THE WORLD will be at this event.
Along with the track and field Warm-Up to Worlds Invitational, in true Edmonton style, there will be community fun, like a celebrity relay day, Running Room relays day, and Mini Legends kids event – all leading up to the main event on July 3rd.
Foote Field is primed to showcase this international event – one of many international track and field events Edmonton has hosted over the years including the 2001 World Championships in Athletics. Foote Field offers a small, intimate venue, the likes of which this level of world class athletes rarely compete in. Edmontonians in attendance will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be so close to these extraordinary athletes.
