Get Rid of Stubborn Fat With SculpSure

Ageing, hormonal changes, genetics, diet and activity all play a role in the way your body carries fat. Even with regular exercise and consistent healthy eating habits, some find that there are small pockets of fat that they are unable to firm up.

Hemingway Medical Spa offers a treatment that compliments your healthy lifestyle and will reduce those pesky pockets of fat.

SculpSure is a non-invasive procedure that heats and is FDA approved to permanently kill up to  24% of treated fat. SculpSure evenly reduces the appearance of fat in problem areas and shows relatively quick and long-lasting results.

How SculpSure reduces fat cells

SculpSure uses laser-based technology to heat up fat cells (adipocytes) to the point where they become internally damaged, and signal to themselves to “turn-off” (a process called apoptosis, or programmed cell death). These de-programmed fat cells are then recognized by our own immune cells (lymphocytes). The fat is then carried away, metabolized and excreted.

One big advantage to using heat energy, opposed to “Cool” energy is the thermal spread beneath the applicators. This helps foster smoother contours, and prevents a “shark-bite” appearance. Furthermore, with certain “Cold” based technologies, there can be a rare side effect of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which is the unwanted consequence of even more fat production in the treated area - both of which do NOT happen with Sculpsure.

Sculpsure is fully customizable and can help with stubborn regions all over the body.

Stubborn areas SculpSure can help with:

  • Stomach
  • Side flanks
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Buttochs
  • Back

Treatment details

SculpSure treatments take 25 minutes per treated area with four applicators. The number of applicators required is what determines cost, as well as treatment duration as only four can be done at a time.

When you come in for Sculpsure, applicators are strapped in to the clinically determined fat pockets, and then the sapphire laser heads are applied into the applicators. The heads of the lasers cool to four degrees celsius, but slowly start to warm the tissue under the skin. The cycles are 20 seconds of warming and 10 seconds of cooling, which gradually builds to a held sustained temperature of 42-47 degrees celsius in the fat.

The sensation is described as a cramping discomfort that is tolerable. After each session, patients may notice a dull discomfort or mild swelling, but are able to proceed with their daily activities.

Two to three sessions (booked six weeks apart) are recommended for best results, but always depends on each individual and the amount of sculpting they require. Results are typically noticed six weeks after the first treatment with optimal results seen within three months.
