If you’re planning to take a vacation in the near future, why not try southern California? You’ll have your choice of popular areas to visit including San Diego, Santa Monica and Venice Beach, to name a few. With plenty of things to do, experiences to try and food to eat, southern California is a great destination spot for any vacationer.

Making the Trip

Planning and research are your friend so don’t skimp on these areas. Deciding on what you’re going to do before you get there will help alleviate any stress which comes with making last-minute decisions on the fly. Having a loose schedule will let you roll with the punches as you go from activity to activity. The area of southern California has a lot to offer both new and returning tourists.

Enjoy Being Outdoors

One of the most prominent things California has to offer is its beautiful coastline. There are many beaches where you can soak in the sun, go for a swim or take a ride on a rigid paddle board on the water. It’s a fun activity that allows you to explore the open water from above while getting in an upper-body workout. Or, you can rent a bicycle and ride up and down the boardwalk with friends and family members.

If you have a few hours to dedicate to exploring, take yourself to the San Diego Zoo, where monkeying around is encouraged. The theme here is being outside. With the lovely temperatures available year-round in southern California, it would be a waste to spend too many hours indoors. So go to the zoo or spend a day at one of their many amusement parks for a fun-filled day with the kids, which will be packed with memorable moments.

Take in the Sights

Inside California’s borders are some awesome treasures to behold. Taking some time out of your trip to take in the sights will open your mind and leave you in awe — places like the Joshua Tree National Park. Filled with beautiful natural scenery, this picturesque location in San Bernardino is a worthwhile addition to your itinerary. If you enjoy hiking and exploring the bountiful wonders that nature has to offer, be sure to check out Wildwood Regional Park. There are many trails to trek and many different species of wildlife to see along the way.

Embracing nature and spending some time entangled in natural areas brings you a certain kind of peace which is otherwise unattainable. Then, when there’s time you can always take a trip to Sequoia National Park. A combination of deep canyons, enormous trees and caverns are here for you to explore. Just remember to pack a camera because there will be photo ops at nearly every turn. When your exploring is complete, it’s time to take a moment and settle down.

Schedule Some Time to Relax

Lastly, be sure to schedule some time to relax, you are on vacation after all. In between trips to the zoo and theme park, set aside a day to simply dig your toes into the sand and possibly build a sandcastle with the kids. Prepare a day a two for just slowing things down and regenerating, because the worst thing that can happen to you while on vacation is burning out. Having to need a vacation from your vacation is a real thing and you can avoid it by taking time for you and your family to chill, so you can get on with the rest of your trip nice and easy.

With so much to do and see, you might feel like you’re pressed for time. But the idea is to schedule what you can, so make a list of your top must-see sites and fill in around those. You may not be able to fit everything in, but that’s what return trips are for.
