If you are thinking about installing an AC in your home or office, it is important to consider all the facts. Air conditioning is not something that you want to implement unnecessarily as there are both advantages and disadvantages of using it.

Sometimes it can often be the case that simply opening a window or removing an item of clothing can be just as effective to cool you down, unless you live in the tropics of course! Some of the health considerations that you should take into account with air conditioning include; your respiratory system, your heart, your weight and your skin.

Take your respiratory system as an example. If you live in an area with high levels of pollution (like a city environment) and you are pre-disposed to lung conditions such as asthma or emphysema; being inside an air conditioned building can prevent airborne pollution from getting into your lungs and impairing your breathing.

On the flipside, prolonged periods of time spent in an air conditioned building, has also been linked to higher instances of respiratory infections. These include tonsillitis, sore throats, and colds.
