Perhaps one of the best things that you can do for yourself that will allow you to live a comfortable life in old age is to exercise regularly.

For example, many of those who end up in nursing homes are incapable of caring for themselves in some way, and this often includes being able to walk or have a full range of motion. Developing an exercise regimen when you’re young and able is the best defense against the inevitable deterioration of muscle, tendons, and joints that occurs as we age. Meditation – Getting in Touch With Yourself

Studies have shown that regular meditation can have a significant effect on cognitive function to help age gracefully. Further, regular focused meditation has been linked to keeping a youthful brain.

The fact is, you don’t have to be religious to engage in meditation at all. Though this practice is a central part of many religions, religion is not a prerequisite for engaging in meditation at all.

During focused meditation, one simply concentrates on the fundamental essence of life, the breath. As you focus your mind, the next step is to observe thoughts from a position of non-judgment and detachment and let them go as they arise.

Meditation takes many years of practice, but the benefits are worth the effort.

The fact is, there are many ways you can enhance your lifestyle so that you can age gracefully with a bit of a smirk on your face. But the best way forward is to engage in healthy and fulfilling activities and live the good life while you can.
