The Thyroid gland, a butterfly shaped organ located in front of the windpipe that weighs less than half an ounce. Although small in size and weight, it is a mighty organ and influences every cell inside our bodies. This gland within a year only produces a teaspoon of hormone but the smallest variation in its hormone production can have huge ramifications on our overall health. Inadequate or elevated levels of thyroid stimulating hormone, T4 or T3 can cause thyroid health conditions such as Hypothyroidism or Hyperthyroidism and have impacts on our wellness and everyday life.

What is Hypothyroidism?

This condition occurs when there are elevated levels of TSH and low levels of Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3), this is an indicator of an underactive thyroid. Elevated levels of TSH occur because the pituitary gland is producing more TSH in hopes to stimulate your thyroid gland into producing more thyroid hormone.
