What is Ayurveda?

Most of you would be aware of the term “Ayurveda,” but how many of you can account for its meaning? Not many! Ayurveda is an ancient medicinal technique that originated in India, opted by the Hindus, but now being practised all over the globe.

Ayurvedic medicine is a very popular alternative to traditional medicines and treatments, not only in India but also in the West.

Ayurveda and Piles

Although the Ayurvedic medicines for piles “Arsha” requires various lifestyle changes, it is known to be very effective and safe. It involves changes like usage of herbal remedies, different procedures, and treatments. Usually, Ayurveda has proven to have successfully treated piles, and reformation in the patient is seen within 48 hours.

Medicines for Piles in Ayurveda

As stated in the Ayurveda, every individual has a specific constitution leading to a balanced body determined by the doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Diseases happen when the body becomes unbalanced, and Ayurveda treats these disturbances by a range of treatments, including herbal remedies, yoga, meditation, massage, dietary restrictions, and breathing exercises.

Piles generally shrink despite the stage when treated with Ayurveda. Kshara is one of the most common Ayurvedic treatments for piles. But usually, in Grade 4 Piles, surgical Ayurveda procedures are required to be followed. In some cases, the patient may get a permanent cure for Piles, while in others, the patient is only relieved of the pain and other complications. In most cases, there is no complaint about the recurrence of Piles. Ayurveda is known for treating personally based on customized medicines, diest, and other lifestyle changes.

Working of Ayurveda for Piles

It is evident to most that Piles occur in four stages/grades 1-4 with an increase in severity.

Grade1:

The Ayurvedic herbs are used with the primary aim of improving bowel movements. The herbs improve digestion(Agni) and control bleeding in Grade 1 piles patients.

Grade2:

Here also, the Ayurvedic herbs focus on improving digestion(Agni). The herbs prescribed are used to reduce the growth of piles, lumps, and inflammation. No surgery is required at this stage.

Grade3:

This is an advanced stage wherein surgical intervention is required. The Kshar Karma or Kshar Sutra Technique is used to remove the piles mass formed. The Ayurvedic herbs are given for healing and avoidance of recurrence.

Grade4:

In addition to the usual symptoms, prolapse and severe pain and discomfort are witnessed. The primary objective becomes the removal of the bleeding pile along with medicinal treatment to treat the root-cause.

Side Effects of Ayurvedic Treatment for Piles

It is uncommon to have side effects or risks due to Ayurvedic treatments. Due to different body types, the effectiveness may vary from person to person for a similar course. The only occurrences of side effects happen when the chosen course of treatment (usually Kshara paste and Kshara sutra ligation) doesn’t suit the patient.

It is the duty of the Ayurvedic expert to inform the patient about the same and guide them through a different course of medicine and treatment. Sometimes due to severity, piles at Grade 4 level become incurable, but certain relief plans are bound.

Reasons for choosing Ayurveda over Normal Medication:

  1. Targets Root-Cause
  2. Most medicines and treatment techniques are biased to treat only the symptoms, while Ayurvedic treatments target the root cause of the disease. It determines the root-cause (domination dosha responsible for disease) and manages it.
  3. Not Just Medicine
  4. Ayurveda is more than just medicine. The treatment itself takes you through specific significant life changes like diest, lifestyle, fitness, etc. all of which complement the quickness of the healing process.
  5. Future Health Benefits
  6. Ayurvedic treatments reduce future health risks by taking care of the root cause. It effectively fights the disease to return the body to its average balance and nullifies any future complications.
