Running in a marathon may seem like an ordinary task at first, you just put one foot in front of the other, right? But, as any seasoned runner will tell you, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. If you’ve never fully seen how a marathon goes up close, you’re missing out on the real experience. The energy and atmosphere are electric. You can really push or get pushed to perform better than you ever expected. Generally speaking, anyone can go out and enjoy the nice weather as they go out for a walk or jog; what makes participating in a marathon more special is that so many people are just as pumped with running together. It’s a friendly competition that feels a lot more invigorating than intimidating. And one of the best races with the best atmospheres is coming up soon, the Naples Half Marathon.

What to Expect from the Naples Half Marathon

This half marathon is said to be one of the fastest in the country. With a flat course and that electric energy, it’s a prime spot to hit a PR. The awards go five-deep for all the age groups participating, and they include the following:

  • Medals for those who run under three hours
  • $15,000 for the Open Division Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters
  • $2,700 for the age groups winners and $500 for setting a course record

The race is heavily enforced, which means cheating is entirely prohibited in the marathon. On top of that, each runner will have a timer strapped on to keep track of how long they’ve been running.

On Friday, January, 17, runners can pick up their packets at Naples on the Run (20 10th St. S Naples FL 34102) from 10 AM to 6 PM; runners can pick up their race packet at the same location the next day from 10 AM to 5 PM. Sunday is the race day. Things kick off at 7 AM, so come bright and early. After each race, refreshments will be provided as the participants await the winners to be announced.

How to Reach to the Naples Half Marathon

The Naples Half Marathon is located at 20 10th St. S Naples, FL, 34102; reaching to the event all depends on how far you live from it, so here is a list of what to do if one of these three methods applies to you:

If you live relatively close to the event, you shouldn’t worry too much about getting to the marathon while making sure you get enough rest or energy.

If you live farther away from the event, you should look over the traffic or be sure to not let any other activities or weather events get in the way of your plans. And if you happen to be coming in from out of town, you might as well make it a mini-vacation and book a good Naples beach resort and spa. The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa is a popular option, with many water park-like attractions, an award-winning spa, and great on-site dining. Falling Waters Beach Resort is another fun choice. You can lounge around in a lazy river pool and shop or dine at one of the many waterside establishments nearby.
