Today’s supplements come in various forms: tablets, capsules, powders and even in the  form of drinks and energy bars. They include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and many other products. The real question here is, do you really need supplements?

Therefore, every person who consumes a supplement needs to stop for a moment and ask himself, is it really needed? If you are among those people who do not eat a variety of nutritious foods, then some supplements can help you get certain essential nutrients. However, they cannot replace food because it is the essence of a healthy diet.

But, have you ever wondered? If, is it even possible for us to get all the nutrition from the food we eat? Unfortunately, no! Doctor says, evidence shows that it is quite not possible, because of the depleted soils and hybridization techniques. The processed factory food that we merrily eat, have no nutrients. This is the reason why, doctors recommend almost everyone to have good multivitamins, fish oil and vitamin D.

Studies show that omega-3, fatty acids present in fish oil support long-term brain, bone, heart and metabolism health. And, vitamin D is scientifically proven to be essential for bone and immune health. It offers benefits against chronic diseases like type 1 diabetes, some common cancers, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. Multivitamins offer help; they are called supplements for a reason.

Like me, I’m sure, you all do get confused by the conflicting studies about supplements.  And, the media adds to that confusion by disapproving a theory in one week and then contradicting it the other week. Therefore, selecting the right supplement can become more confusing. So, before you go out there to buy a supplement you need to understand, it won’t give you superman powers or superhuman results, it will only make your life a little better.

I will strongly recommend to you all – consult your health care provider, before you begin a supplement, for a health condition you have diagnosed yourself. Or ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are the benefits of that supplement?
  • What are the potential benefits for you?
  • Does the product have any safety risks?
  • What is the proper dose to take it?
  • How, when, and for how long you need to take it?

If you do not know the answer to these questions, consult your health care provider. Stay safe!

The trickiest part about this subject is related to the people who go to the gym and take a supplement. They need to know that supplements are really what they are. They are, just to supplement your training, diet and restoration. Even if you take all the supplements in the world, it won’t match up to your hard work and dedication. And, a fair warning to those people who are consuming muscle enhancing supplements without going to a gym. The best way to supplement it, is with a hardcore workout routine as it  contains L-Arginine known for boosting nitric oxide in the body, that helps to move oxygen into your muscles wherever it is needed  the most.

Supplements do not magically give you abilities, it’s exactly what it says. So, don’t be afraid to explore this untouched territory. That’s the only way to understand something you don’t. And, when in doubt, just eat variety of good organic food. Awareness is the key towards a better tomorrow.
