Water is a vital component for our bodies, we are made up of 80% water after all! We need to find ways to drink more water to maintain our everyday bodily functions, it transports nutrients and oxygen, aids our digestion and removes unwanted waste from the body.

It’s also great for weight loss! Did you know increasing your body’s water intake can boost your metabolism and burn up to 30% more fat, not bad! It’s also vital that after a workout you drink plenty of water to replaced lost water and nutrients from your body perspiring. With that in mind, you might want to consider increasing the amount of water you drink, as an adult you should be drinking at least 8 glasses of it a day. A staggering 60% of the population drink less than one glass! Now that’s a shocking statistic.

1. Invest in a sports bottle

It might sound obvious but investing in a bottle for when you’re on-the-go is so important. Whether it’s heading to the gym, to work or the mall at the weekends make sure you take a bottle of water with you to keep you topped up throughout the day. I personally use a Bobble bottle as it filters your drinking water removing any loose carbon.

2. Download an app

If you’re forgetful then download an app such as Waterlogged to track your daily water intake, it also sends you a reminder if you haven’t drunk enough water throughout the day. You can understand more about your water and ensure you’re drinking enough!

3. Set yourself a goal

We always work better when we have an end goal that we’re working towards. Set yourself a realistic expectation, for example 5 glass of water a day. Gradually increase this until you’re naturally consuming your recommended 8 glasses.

4. Ice ice baby

Ice cubes couldn’t be simpler to make, and they’ll ensure your water is nice and chilled. If you’re feeling creative, add some fruit to your ice cubes to make them even healthier and not to mention tasty! If you’re increasing your water intake to aid with weight loss then it’s super important to make sure your water is cold, as it will boost your metabolism even further!

5. Jazz it up

Water doesn’t have to be boring! There are loads of ways you can jazz up your water, check out these ideas including the addition of cucumber for a spa-style drink or fruits packed with handy anti-oxidants!

6.  Consider Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis refers to a chemical treatment process for water. The process forces water through specialized membranes and exerts a certain amount of pressure on it to remove foreign contaminants, solid substances, large molecules and minerals. Reverse osmosis is a water purification system used around the world to help improve water for drinking, cooking and other important uses.

Remember, if you’re feeling hungry make sure it’s definitely hunger and not thirst. All too often we mistake the two and end up eating more than we should because we’re actually dehydrated!
